And our first show season is a wrap!
Jack and my first show season has now come to a close. We went from me first sitting on him in February/March to now beginning work on our canter last week. We went from him never knowing a show ring to trailering off property and competing in several divisions including in-hand, trail, green horse and dressage. Overall, it was pretty darn fantastic.
Tonight we went to our barn holiday party for our schooling show and dressage show awards. Thomas and I both came home with certificates celebrating completing level 3 of our no-stirrup November challenges (we both almost completed level 4, but cantering without stirrups isn’t where we are yet!) Jack and I also finished fifth in trail and third in green horse…but the best yet:
We got top finisher for our final dressage show in November! And I came home with an amazing – which I absolutely adore and put on immediately – (or what Thomas calls gaudy) Dressage Queen necklace! This one was a major surprise since my barn owner had told me that day that I had been beaten for highest score. It was one of the best feelings and we still have our Connecticut Color Breed Association holiday party and year-end awards to attend in January.
I’m really proud of how 2017 has worked for not only Jack and I, but Thomas and I as well. We’ve come a long way in our first year of marriage. Every day is a new experience; new laughs, new accomplishments, new challenges. We have learned even more about each other and about our life together. We have helped each other set goals, we challenge each other and we have each other’s back through thick and thin.
As December rolls way too quickly to a close, I’m sure we will be sitting down to begin planning our 2018 goals and where we would like to go from here. And we will have some help doing that!
I’m happy to announce that I’ll be doing a review of the Horses-U Live Extraordinary Planner! Once it comes in the mail, I’ll be typing up something for followers! I can’t wait to see what it has in store.
